So my agent texted me asking for a commission because the tenant renewed last year. The contract will expire this July and she only approached me now. She also didn't tell me before that she is entitled to a commission when the tenant renews and we didn't have a written contract before as she was only introduced by a friend. I also had no idea of these things. I have a direct contact with the tenant and he directly contacted me when he asked for a renewal last year.
Is it right for the agent to ask for a commission at this time?
